It’s the little things

Last Sunday I  had a kid in my Kids Kove group who had celebrated his birthday on Tuesday of that week. He is one of my favorite kids in my group because he love to chat about sports. He usually walks into the room on Sunday prepared to tell me what his sports highlights of the week are or what new basketball or football cards he had accumulated during the week. So since I had collected cards as a youngster, and they were currently sitting in a storage room in my brother’s basement, I thought I would grab a few of them and give the cards to him for his birthday. I think I was as excited to give him those cards as he was to receive them. It really made my day to see his face light up when he saw the cards I handed him. I have quite a few Michael Jordan cards so I gave him one of those. He told me that only one other kid at school had a Michael Jordan and everyone was jealous of him. I also gave him a Bill Laimbeer card as well as a Dennis Rodman and Magic Johnson. Usually I’m really terrible at the small things, but I’m definitely working on it. It blows me away what a little bit of effort can mean.
